My Career Aspirations:
I am a recent Process (Chemical) Engineering graduate, having received my BEng honours-level qualification from Stellenbosch University, South Africa, in December 2020. In my final year, I achieved a distinction for project management and passed my research-based thesis (which involved sustainability modelling) cum laude. As someone who is passionate about science, beauty, cosmetics and fragrances, as well as sustainability within the industry, I am actively seeking an opportunity to secure an entry-level/associate position with a reputable company where I can utilize my knowledge and skills to kickstart my career in the industry.
I am eager to learn and grow and am open to various opportunities, as I believe that my academic background, people skills, leadership ability and passion for innovation and creativity, gives me the ability to meet the competencies required to be successful in multiple roles. My goal, however, is to pursue a career in research and new product development/innovation as I believe that this is an ideal way for me to merge my passion for chemistry and art – loving my job is my number one aim. My engineering degree has provided me with a strong chemical background, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to process data. This combined with my creative and innovative background, where I scored in the top 1% of the country for visual art in my final year of school, gives me the confidence that I will be able to progress within any company and hopefully end up in a managarial role.
Education & Achievements Summary:
Oakhill School: (2010-2014)
Stellenbosch University: (2015-2020)
I am a motivated, proactive and positive individual who is resilient and always strives for success, no matter the challenge. I have good organizational and time management skills and am capable of achieving set objectives. I’m results-driven and detail-oriented and have considerable experience in report writing.
I’m adaptable and well-rounded and I therefore work well both individually and within a team in a creative and fast- paced environment that is constantly evolving. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with a diverse range of individuals and have good people skills. This is apparent in the number of leadership roles I fulfilled throughout my school and university career: Vice President of Interact Community Outreach, Secretary of the Student Representative Council, House Captain and Residence Mentor. I’m a confident speaker who is able to communicate with peers, superiors and stakeholders alike.
I am currently living in South Africa, however I have dual citizenship and the legal rights to work in both SA and the UK, and I am willing to relocate. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require recommendation letters with contactable references.
