My Career Aspirations:
I am a person who is intrigued by anything Organic chemistry related, I want to venture into research and development in the new future and synthesize new compounds which may help in the betterment of the country as a whole. I fell in love with synthesis in organic chemistry when I was doing my honors project entitled the preparation of pyridine-based derivatives as possible HIV-1 non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs), where I had to synthesize different analogs of compounds which may be used to treat HIV.
During a presentation held at my varsity at the 30th of August, a SAAFFI representative caught my attention when she was presenting about flavors and fragrances saying they are basically everywhere in almost 99% of everything we use and that this is a growing industry which is not widely known. for my current project, I’m extracting bioactive compounds from Moringa tree so it can be used to make commercial compounds such as pills, mineral water, yogurts etc which all come together in giving me skills for what I want to do in the future.
