I have previous experience in both flavour development and flavour application. That is where I started to develop my passion for flavours and the flavour industry. I find flavour creation and it’s application an amazing tool that allows consumers to have amazing sensory experience. I hope to hone and develop my skills as a flavourist, both in flavour development and creation. With this goal in mind, I aspire to become a master flavour technologist. This will take time, but I am dedicated, hard working and fast learning.
Summary of Work Experience:
I had worked in a flavour house, in Midrand, South Africa.
There I ran the lab as a junior flavour developer and quality control technologist. In the 18 months, I had worked there I had gained a great passion for flavours, and endeavoured to learn as much as possible. I gained invaluable skills when it came to working in and maintaining the lab. Those skills also include basic flavour development of sweet and savoury flavours.
I led the food safety team as the Food Safety Team Leader, where I ran monthly meetings which helped maintain our food safety system (ISO 22000:2005), did monthly and annual testing of raw materials and final goods. In addition, I maintained the ISO documentation and ran both the internal and external audits, management meetings and assisted with mock recalls. I also did yearly pricing, the input of finished goods into the system, stock take, building formulations and pricing.
In addition, I had the opportunity to work as a small project assistant in the beverage/sweet development lab at the sister company of Promigen. Here I learned how to apply flavours in various beverages as well as confectionary products.
